Spending my b’day in the city of joy

As I write this blog, I am suffering from flu since last evening and all I wish is to recover asap. I share my birthday with Sourav Ganguly, former national captain of the men’s Indian cricket team. It was a coincidence that Prerna invited me to attend the press meet with Taapsee Panu who is playing Mithali Raj, former Indian team caption in Srijit Mukherji’s impending film.

I asked Taapsee about what made her choose the film, to which she replied, “This is the first time one will see the entire journey of Mithali Raj’s life and I feel privileged to play a living-legend in the reel life…” Mithali and Srijit said that times are changing and women are even getting equal pay in New Zealand cricket team. We do hope that sports will be one place which will show the egalitarian spirit in here too.

Later that evening, Sana invited me to attend the music launch of Bhorer Pakhi at One Bottle Down which saw singers Pritam Kumar & Samayan Sarkar with music director Dev Sen. The music was amazing and the movie is slated to release before the Durga Puja. It stars Saheb Bhattacharya and Durga Santra in amazing musical sequences which will really soothe your senses.

Alongside, I chatted with Pritam, Samayan and Dev regards to the music over the high tea. OBD in Camac Street is an amazing space for music lovers to spend an evening. I met Sana after ages and happy to see her blossoming more and more over the years. Pritam is quite a shining star and hope he shines brightly in years to come! 🙂

The next day I was invited to an event which was opened by Nusrat Jahan, model and actress from the city. Nusrat’s wikipedia still has the image which was clicked by me, some 6-8 years back when I was writing for The Telegraph and perchance a journalism student from Mumbai university. She unveiled Tanishq’s latest diamond collection and indeed she dazzled the red-carpet in her chic pink attire! 🙂

The same day Amir, my friend from Kuala Lumpur was to leave the city and return back to Malaysia. I met Amir in Kuala Lumpur when I spent my 2019 new year celebrating in Bukit Bintang. I invited him to the event and we shared our love for nasi goreng and Batu caves. Nusrat’s instagram is filled with travel pics of Europe, Turkey and the likes. I do hope things becomes normal and I too can embark on a soul-rendering journey in Europe / South-east Asia very soon. Que sera sera amigos ❤
