Beauty Quotient: Make-Up Trends for 2013

Celebrity Beauty Column by Aakriti Kochar

Aakriti KocharWhen it comes to beauty looks, bare is always beautiful—but so is a bit of color on the face. Fortunately the Spring/Summer 2013 will offer us both options this season. Sweep brilliant shades of blue brilliantly on eyes, or slicked vivid crimson hues on, then emphasized neutral lips and glowing skin. Strong and bold brows are yet another time back in fashion, fill using a dark brown pencil or shadow. After very long, sparkle catches the limelight with just a hint of it on eyes.

The “Smokey Eye” is officially over. There is a New Eye in town. The trend in Eye Shadow is to use gray or dark gray tones.

The season is all about clean skin, apply a light base and avoid a blush. Instead carry bronzed cheeks and focus colors on eyes and lips. Accentuated lips with matte red and crimson or be it deep Bordeaux Lip colors, the look is easy to achieve when paired with a fresh face. These bright lips scream drama and balance out more neutral looking skin.

Thick or thin, black eyeliner is a staple of every girl’s makeup bag. This season, we are seeing thin lines for a demure eye and heavier, graphic lines for a more extreme and dramatic look. Striking contrast with  jet black liner by swiping on a platinum shadow over the lids, giving us inspiration for how to dress up a few simple strokes for day to night.

High pony tails, big open curls, glossy texture were popularly seen on the runways. To master your twist, blow-dry hair straight, create a clean center part if wanted, and secure hair into a firm pony-tail at the nape, spritzing with shine mist. Or you can wrap the tail into any number of looks—a loop with the ends pointing up or tucked under, a round ballet bun, or the classic double knot.
